Many companies are shifting towards the click and mortar business practice. These systems can help eliminate over 50% of the work from older traditional practices. Another benefit of these systems allow companies to cut expenses, eliminate paper waste, and provide an efficient way to manage your business.

Benefits of CRM Systems – Web Applications VS. Desktop Applications

Many CRM systems offer a way to manage contacts, customers, and companies. Calendar integration and email support is a standard. Only the more precise programs will implement a PDF system, Order Flow, Dispatching, Email Alerts, SMS / Text Alerts, and many other beneficial features. Also the platform is important, and I highly recommend you to research the comparisons of Windows ® / Mac ® applications vs. website only. The benefits of taking your business completely online are accessibility, portability, and reliability. Web applications provide not having to constantly download and install new updates, waste time installing on computers, connectivity anywhere in the world, and instant email notifications. Many CRM Desktop Applications can cost a business fortunes especially if they require labor charges to set up these servers /databases at the location of business.

Web Applications Benefits

  • Access your business platform from virtually anywhere in the world with a good internet connection.
  • Never being bothered to download “scary” updates and installing them to the system.
  • Businesses can save money by not having to hire IT professionals to manage servers and databases that most desktop applications require.
  • Countless backups created by web crm application provider. Your data and information is safe.
  • SSL / Secured Sockets Layer protection is another strong safety point.
  • Blackberry ® / “like Blackberry ®” server integration with web application. Mobile connectivity with smart phones.
  • Targeted towards many small to medium size businesses.

Desktop Applications Benefits

  • Servers are usually located at the place of business.
  • Employed IT’s and Database Administrators keep a close eye on your application server.
  • Targeted towards many larger corporations and businesses.

My Conclusion

Both types of CRM’s can be an elegant solution to help run your business more effectively. If you are a small business to a medium sized business that doesn’t need to have a whole IT department to constantly supervise the information system then the Web Application would be the smarter decision. Larger corporations tend to use custom systems designed specificaly for their business however this involves a larger business expense in order to maintain your computer systems.

Overall, it’s really up to the type of industry, size, features, and preference. You can visit www.poky.com for more information on web application type CRM’s.

I would like to add one more advantage of a web-based CRM if it is not obvious to others: total cost of ownership. When you pay for the web-based solution, the provider takes care of all the maintenance, updates, and security checks that an IT staff would be responsible for. The provider knows their application from top to bottom, so it will be easier and faster for them to troubleshoot any problem. The IT staff usually will not have such thorough knowledge of the desktop solution unless they have had intense training (=more money) in the software. So the TCO for a desktop solution must include some of the cost of having an IT staff.
